The eye-catching town of Villajoyosa, with beautifulΒ houses painted in different colors,Β draws the attention of every visitor and is unquestionably one of the best places to visit on the Costa Blanca!

In fact, Villajoyosa is the ideal day-trip destination from the two hotspots, Benidorm (to the north) and Alicante (to the south), as it will only take up to 30 minutes by car or one hour by public transport to arrive.

Visitors can enjoy a pleasant walk along the 1-kilometer-long promenade with various bars, restaurants, and cafΓ©s, and, of course, spend an enjoyable beach day with white sand and crystal clear water.Β

Another highlight of the charming fishing village worth experiencing is a stroll through its old town, getting lost in the narrow streets and admiring the buildings with their colorful facades.Β

Furthermore, Villajoyosa is also famous for its long chocolate tradition, and, therefore, a visit to the Valor Chocolate Museum and the Chocolate Shop is highly recommended for every chocolate lover!Β

Best Things to Do and See in Villajoyosa

#1 Visit the “Casas Colgantes”

Colorful buildings of different heights in Villajoyosa, Spain.

One of the best things to do in Villajoyosa is to visit the Hanging Houses (Spanish: Casas Colgantes), which also characterize the town because of its picturesque setting.

They are located at the Amadorio riverbed, and you will get the best views from the Old Bridge, from where you can also take beautiful pictures of the colorful buildings and the riverbed.

For the best experience, I recommend walking through the narrow streets behind the Hanging Houses down to the promenade.

#2 Relax at Villajoyosa Beach

Palm trees on the beach against the background of the sea and blue sky.

The beach in Villajoyosa is long and well-maintained, offering enough space for anyone looking to spend a beautiful day by the sea, and the vivid colors of the buildings in the background by the promenade will make your beach day even more memorable.Β

It has white sand, and the water is so crystal-clear that you can see the fish. Moreover, you can find different water activities at the yacht club, perfect for families.Β

Not far from the main beach, you will find another beautiful beach further south, called Paradis Beach, which is only a 35-minute walk away.Β
